With most of the AEW Double or Nothing 2023 card now set in stone, fans may have noticed that one seemingly pencilled in match is nowhere to be seen.
The extremely long-awaited blowoff to the rivalry between former tag partners Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee was reported last month to be planned for Double or Nothing according to Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
However, now that seems to not be the case, with Meltzer again providing an update on both men’s plans for the show.
While they may end up meeting face to face on Sunday, according to Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, both men were involved in the brawl involving the Blackjack Battle Royal contestants on Rampage, suggesting they will instead be taking part in that.
It’s unclear why AEW decided to once again forego a one-on-one match between Strickland and Lee, however, if both men are in fact involved in the battle royal its possible that some development to this never-ending saga may come in that match instead.
Believe it or not it has been five months since the former AEW tag champions officially split up on the December 21 Dynamite, so hopefully both can get some closure and move on to new things in the near future.
A recent injury to a previously advertised name for Double or Nothing has forced a late change to the Double or Nothing card, follow this link to find out more.
