Update On Plans For Mustafa Ali On WWE NXT WWE

A new report has provided an update on plans for Mustafa Ali on the NXT brand.

On the May 30 edition of WWE NXT, Mustafa Ali appeared on the brand for the first time in seven years and was involved in a segment featuring North American Champion Wes Lee. This followed Ali being labeled as a “free agent” in the recent WWE Draft.

Another “free agent” who appeared on the same episode was former Money In The Bank winner Baron Corbin, who attacked NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes to close the show.

Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that there were tentative plans in place for quite some time for both Mustafa Ali and Baron Corbin to work in NXT. This was apparently one of the reasons that the “free agent” tag was placed on both stars in the draft.

WWE sources said, “despite a lot of things from the previous regime that made that cynicism around the free agent tags understandable, there was more of a plan for them this time.”

The report notes that several NXT stars had specifically requested to work with Ali, and he was more than happy to oblige.

Ali is set to face Joe Gacy in singles action on tonight’s June 6 episode of WWE NXT.
