Plans For WWE Commentator To Feud With Christian Revealed

Prior to being forced into retirement several years ago, SmackDown commentator Corey Graves was a professional wrestler who worked on the independent scene before signing for NXT. Many people forget that prior to stepping into the commentary booth, Graves was an NXT Tag Team Champion alongside Adrian Neville (now PAC in AEW).

Graves revealed on the After the Bell podcast that while on the independent scene, there were plans to have him feud with former World Heavyweight, Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion, Christian.

While speaking to Christian, who was a guest on the show, Graves revealed that there were plans to have him feud with the former WWE star while the pair were both not signed to the company:

“As you were telling that story and you were talking about AJ Styles, it reminded me of the match that never was between you and I. We shot an angle in England. You were the NWA Champion at the time, and we shot an angle on the first night of a two-night set. Apparently, nobody ever bothered to consider that you had to fly back to Toronto to shoot a movie… So we booked this angle with me against you, and it just never happened. Now it never will.”

Following the in-ring returns of Daniel Bryan in 2018 and Edge earlier this year, Corey Graves has teased potentially working on getting cleared for a return to the ring. This was followed by a video that emerged of Graves training in the ring with his brother, who is also a professional wrestler on the independent scene.

Speaking of Christian, website editor Louis Dangoor had the pleasure of interviewing the former WWE star where they spoke about Edge’s shocking return to WWE, if Christian feels he should be in the Hall of Fame, and much more. You can check that interview out below.
