PWInsider is reporting that Nigel McGuinness has been released by WWE.
The report states that the release took place earlier this week.
McGuinness had most recently served as a weekly commentator on NXT Level Up alongside Sudu Shah, and was also on commentary each week for NXT UK until that show was nixed in August.
Prior to that, McGuinness had been used more prominently as a weekly commentator on NXT TV during the height of the ‘black and gold’ era calling many memorable matches alongside Mauro Ranallo.
The news of the release comes after WWE made wholesale changes to its commentary teams for Raw, SmackDown and NXT, which also included the release of Jimmy Smith.
