A popular NXT competitor has opened up about a main-roster match-up she believes would be a “dream come true”.
Natalya is an extremely accomplished member of the WWE locker room. The first woman to graduate from The Hart Dungeon, Natalya has been wrestling in WWE rings since 2007.
Toni Storm has recently revealed that she’d love a match with the Queen of Harts. Speaking with Inside The Ropes, Storm noted that Natalya is one of her biggest wrestling inspirations.
Calling her a “locker room leader”, Storm talked about previous encounters with Natalya, saying that the veteran always made her feel welcome backstage. Storm stated that the Natalya is so experienced, she’d be able to learn so much with just one match against the Queen of Hearts.
Here is the full quote:
“That would be a dream come true, because she’s obviously someone that I’ve watched for so many years, one of the people that inspired me to be here in the first place. So, for her to just come out and say that she wants to have a match with me is a huge deal for me and I think that would help elevate me a lot and she could teach me a lot from just one match.”
“I have a lot of respect for Natalya. I think she’s one of the greatest and, whenever I’m backstage, and she’s there, I feel really taken care of. She’s a locker room leader and she’s just a fantastic human. So just even outside of wrestling, she’s just a very good person and it means a lot for her to say those things about me.”
Natalya recently took to Instagram to voice her desire for a match against Storm, so it might only be a matter of time before we see Toni Storm battle the former Smackdown Women’s Champion.
Storm has achieved a lot during her short time in WWE. Debuting in the 2017 Mae Young Classic, She would go on to win the tournament in the following year, before claiming the NXT UK Women’s Championship in 2019. She recently appeared in the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble match, being eliminated by the eventual runner-up, Ripley.
Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez challenge Io Shirai for the NXT Women’s Championship this Sunday at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day.
