With WrestleMania 39 only 4 weeks away, many of the matches for the show are beginning to take shape as we head towards the big show in Los Angeles.
However, one popular former WWE Champion may be set to miss the show this year due to injury.
On last night’s (March 3) episode of SmackDown, a brawl broke out between potential challengers for the Intercontinental Championship; Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, LA Knight, Kofi Kingston and LA Knight.
In a new report first reported by Jake Skudder of FightFans, Kofi Kingston suffered an arm injury, which has not yet fully been diagnosed, but seems to be a lengthy injury.
The report notes that, while it is not yet known how long Kingston will be out of action, it is likely to be ‘quite some time’.
The report also notes that the injury, again while not fully diagnosed, could keep Kingston out for 2 – 8 months, a timeframe that would keep Kofi from appearing at WrestleMania this year.
Kofi is currently scheduled for a five-way number one contender’s match for next week’s SmackDown, but WWE have reportedly discussed a replacement.
UPDATE: Dave Meltzer reported the injury as a leg injury rather than an arm injury.
We wish Kofi a full and complete recovery from his injury.
