Update On Possibility Of Mercedes Mone Returning To WWE WWE

An update has emerged on the possibility of Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) returning to WWE, as free agency once again looms.

After walking out on a WWE Raw taping in May 2022, Mone’s next wrestling appearance saw her make her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 to confront IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI.

She returned to the ring at the February 18 Battle in the Valley event, defeating KAIRI for the gold.

With Mone confirming that she’s a free agent, it was recently reported that her agreement with NJPW is set to end soon, unless she agrees to work more dates for the promotion.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, A WWE return would be possible for Mone, if she’s willing to give up on some of the things she was asking for during her last round of contract negotiations.

Meltzer explained:

“The ball is in her court when it comes to New Japan, WWE and AEW as I’m sure she could go to any of the three and make a lot of money in both U.S. companies.

“She probably could work out an AEW deal where she would be able to work Japan and Mexico if she wanted as well.

“From the WWE side, we were told there were points that she has asked for that she would have to give up asking for to sign a deal with them but the door is open for her otherwise.

“For other talent, the short-term deal works very much in her favor as she kept the buzz on her name, got to fulfill her goals of working in Japan in April and is basically on the open market.

“Mone is going to Japan right after fulfilling her WrestleMania week appearances (for High Spots) and is staying there through the Yokohama Arena show.”

Mone recently commented on her WWE departure, which you can read more about right here.

After indicating that she’s no longer with WWE, Trinity Fatu’s (Naomi) new ring name has seemingly been revealed.
