Despite the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view taking place in just five nights, WWE has only announced three matches for the show.
Despite last night’s Raw being the go-home show before the pay-per-view, WWE decided to book a match for Crown Jewel at the end of the month, instead of the show right around the corner.
With Smackdown debuting on FOX at the end of this week, WWE was seemingly too busy building towards that big show to focus on Hell In A Cell.
This had meant that even the WWE Championship is not set to be defended at the upcoming pay-per-view.
On Smackdown this Friday, Brock Lesnar will challenge Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship. This will be his first WWE TV match in over 15 years.
Dave Meltzer speculated on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that Brock might win the match on Friday, with Kofi getting his rematch two days later at Hell In A Cell.
“One of the things is the WWE Championship match is if Brock wins the title and it certainly seems like that will be the case and it probably is the case obviously they can’t do anything with Kofi, so maybe it’s a Brock and Kofi rematch?”
I expect a fair few matches to be booked on Friday Night Smackdown, so make sure you stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for any match announcements.
