A lot of big moves were made last night on NXT to set up future title programs. One of which saw Io Shirai challenge Raquel Gonzalez to an NXT Women’s Championship match.
Now, we have a potential spoiler for the result of that match. Bryan Alvarez said that while plans may change, he did hear that Gonzalez would be the one to defeat Shirai for the title. Here is the quote from today’s Wrestling Observer Live:
“I don’t know who’s gonna win the title and plans change all the time in NXT. I heard months ago that Raquel is probably the one who is going to beat Io Shirai.”
Issues between Io Shirai and Raquel Gonzalez began back at NXT TakeOver WarGames in December. In the women’s WarGames match, Gonzalez ultimately got the win for her team by pinning Shirai.
Now, they have finally caught up with each other. While it has not been confirmed as of this writing, it seems likely that their match will take place at the newly announced NXT TakeOver Stand & Deliver.
We will provide more updates on the match and the event as more details become available.
