Writing in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer discussed the potential WrestleMania plans for Edge, who returned to TV on Monday’s go-home episode of Raw before the Royal Rumble.
It has long been reported that Edge and Randy Orton are set to go one-on-one at WrestleMania, but with Orton and The Fiend Bray Wyatt’s feud seemingly not done yet, it seems like WWE may have other plans for the WWE Hall of Famer at the show.
Meltzer said that should WWE decide to have Randy Orton and The Fiend work together in some capacity at WrestleMania, then Edge may be freed up for a big title match at the marquee PPV in April with either Drew McIntyre or Roman Reigns:
Orton vs Fiend was on the card for Rumble in a Firefly Fun House match and now it doesn’t appear to be. If it’s held for Mania and there is certainly speculation now that’s the case, that takes Orton vs. Edge out, which could leave Edge open for Reigns or McIntyre since his promo was strong about going after the title
This could potentially indicate that Edge is going to win the Royal Rumble tomorrow night, 11 years after he won the match in 2010. Edge is one of the bookies’ favourites to win the match this weekend.
