Back on April 27, NXT aired the first in a series of vignettes for something known as the “Diamond Mine”.
Since the first segment aired, speculation as to that this could be hinting at ran amok, whether it be a new wrestler, faction or something else entirely.
This week’s vignette led us potentially closer to the end destination. The video saw both male and female athletes training in an MMA style setting, with the words “opening soon” ending the video, and WWE officially captioning the video “NXT is about to learn what Diamond Mine is all about.”
The vignettes show the men and women training using Fusion X-Cel bags, which is a fitness center in Ocoee, Florida that teaches MMA to students. This has led to speculation that the Diamond Mine could infact be some form of MMA themed brand or division for the NXT roster, similar in vein to Raw Underground on the main roster last year.
Whether that is the case or not, WWE seemingly has big plans for the idea, as they’ve had the trademark stored since December 2020.
