A potential spoiler has emerged for the Roman Reigns vs Goldberg Universal Championship match set for WWE Elimination Chamber.
Goldberg returned to WWE during last week’s episode of SmackDown, confronting the Tribal Chief. It was then revealed that the Hall of Famer will challenge for Reigns’ gold on February 19.
Many fans have predicted that Reigns will retain the Universal Championship, as WWE has had the current titleholder pencilled in to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 for months. Cultaholic has pointed out that WWE hasn’t advertised Goldberg for any episodes of SmackDown following Elimination Chamber, indicating that the current plan isn’t for the former WCW star to win the gold.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that the upcoming title match will be Goldberg’s last on his current contract.
It was noted that Goldberg winning the Universal Title next Saturday isn’t impossible, discussing the idea of Brock Lesnar winning the WWE Championship on the same night, leading to Lesnar vs Reigns for the WWE Title at WrestleMania.
Here is the current line-up for WWE Elimination Chamber:
- WWE Championship Elimination Chamber
- Raw Women’s Championship #1 Contender Elimination Chamber
- Roman Reigns vs Goldberg – Universal Championship
- Becky Lynch vs Lita – Raw Women’s Championship
- The Usos vs Viking Raiders – SmackDown Tag Team Championship
- Drew McIntyre vs Madcap Moss
