An update on a potential WWE signing leaving their home promotion following recent interest from the company.
WWE held it’s latest talent tryouts in London back in March as part of the company’s European tour, which saw a number of European independent stars tryout for the company.
Among those names was British independent women’s standout Rhio, who WWE reportedly gave ‘heavy attention’ to during the tryout.
Amid speculation of a potential move to NXT, Rhio’s status with her home promotion PROGRESS Wrestling was put into question, with her set to challenge PROGRESS Women’s World Champion Nina Samuels at today’s PROGRESS Wrestling Super Strong Style 16 day 1 event.
The match would have the added stipulation that should Rhio lose, she would be forced to leave PROGRESS, adding fuel to a potential move to WWE NXT.
However, Rhio ended up scoring the win in the match, with her set to remain in PROGRESS as the Women’s World Champion, before announcing that the promotion would host a women’s edition of it’s Super Strong Style tournament next year.
