WWE/AEW
The real reason that Powerhouse Hobbs opted to sign with WWE after his AEW contract expired has been revealed.
Following reports that Powerhouse Hobbs was expected to sign with WWE, it has now been confirmed that pen has been put to paper.
With Hobbs’ AEW contract having expired earlier this month, the reason he signed with WWE was revealed in the current issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
According to Dave Meltzer, there was no negativity towards Hobbs in AEW, with the star choosing his future “based on his family”, stating:
“Nobody in AEW had anything negative to say about him, with us being told he made the decision based on his family, which would seem to indicate he got a better money deal.
“Some people go to WWE with the idea of going even with a lesser money offer, because it’s either their dream, or belief they want to be in the top place, or that it’s a better stepping stone to Hollywood than AEW.
“But Hobbs was a guy the company clearly really wanted and whether he was going to get much higher in AEW is a question.”
While it remains to be seen when or where Hobbs will debut it in WWE, it was previously reported that he’s expected to head straight to the main roster.
