Pro-Israel Groups Contact WWE Regarding Sami Zayn Tweets

It has emerged that pre-Israel groups and media have contacted WWE and affiliates regarding some recent tweets by Sami Zayn.

Zayn’s tweets have included:

There is no viable moral defense for stealing people’s homes based on their ethnicity.

Maybe not the most tasteful statement to make within hours of Israel bombing Gaza and killing 20 Palestinians, 9 of whom were children. But then again I’m not a soulless piece of s**t politician so what do I know? (In response to Andrew Yang tweeting: I’m standing with the people of Israel who are coming under bombardment attacks, and condemn the Hamas terrorists. The people of NYC will always stand with our brothers and sisters in Israel who face down terrorism and persevere.)

Watching politicians & commentators rush to wrap Israeli military aggression in a cloak of victimhood, while omitting the crimes towards the Palestinians is beyond shameful. The hypocrisy in the discourse & the callous indifference towards the Palestinian people is appalling.

As reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, pro-Israel groups and media contacted WWE, FOX and NBCU as a result of the tweets.

According to the report, they didn’t respond.

Charlotte Flair has also been the subject of some controversy because she liked, and then apologised for liking (saying it was a “pocket like”), the following tweet from Gal Gadot:

My heart breaks. My country is at war. I worry for my family, my friends. I worry for my people. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long. Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation. Our neighbours deserve the same. I pray for the victims and their families. I pray for this unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we can live side by side in peace. I pray for better days.
