PROGRESS Wrestling Announces New Partnership With Tranmere Rovers

PROGRESS Wrestling has announced a new partnership with English Football League team Tranmere Rovers. PROGRESS will server as the new social media partner of Tranmere Rovers for the rest of the 2021/2022 football season.

If this is anything like a WWE partnership, they’ll have a lumberjack match with lots of football players outside of the ring, waiting to eat the wrestlers.

Below is a press release from PROGRESS announcing the new partnership.

PROGRESS Wrestling are pleased to announce a new sporting
relationship that sees the brand become the new social media partner
of Tranmere Rovers Football Club for the remainder of the 2021/22
Season.

PROGRESS Wrestling have recently been acquired by Lee McAteer and
Martyn Best, long-time directors of the club who are enjoying a successful
league season to date, sitting in second position in EFL League Two.

The deal will see PROGRESS Wrestling branding across all the club’s
social media channels as well as closer links between the two entities in
the digital space. Merseyside based TNT Extreme Wrestling will also
receive exposure on the club’s social channels as part of the partnership.

McAteer said, “I’m really excited to strengthen the links with the Club with
Martyn and I being the new owners of PROGRESS Wrestling. I’ve been
both a massive Tranmere fan all of my life, and a huge fan of professional
wrestling, so it’s brilliant to bring the two together”

Many of our fans will also recall Lee as the founder and CEO of Wrestling
Travel, a brand with which he built his profile within the wrestling
community. His and Best’s purchase of PROGRESS Wrestling has been
met with excitement by the fanbase.

Martyn, the former Chairman of the Everton Tigers basketball team who
brought much silverware to Merseyside in the last decade was equally
enthusiastic, “Lee and I are really pleased with PROGRESS Wrestling
being a formal sponsor of the Club, and we can bring our expertise to bear
across many of the club’s social media platforms including twitter,
Instagram and TikTok.”

The two have also recently taken a stake in Merseyside’s own TNT
Extreme Wrestling with a view to expanding the scope of their brand
outside its North-West roots.

Tranmere Rovers Chairman Mark Palios also expressed his delight at the
new partnership. “This is another great example of the ambitions of our
football club in being able to attract such an internationally known sporting
brand as PROGRESS Wrestling as one of our new sponsors.

“We have many pro-wrestlers amongst our fan base, including the amazing
Double J, Jeff Jarrett, a WWE Hall of Famer and it will be interesting to see
if we can help PROGRESS Wrestling with some of their north-west shows
later in the year.

”I really welcome PROGRESS Wrestling and would like to thank Lee and
Martyn for showing their further support and confidence in the club, and it is
thrilling partnerships like this which will really add excitement to what will
hopefully be a very rewarding season for us.”

PROGRESS Wrestling will return to the North-West region this Sunday, 6th
February at the O2 Ritz in Manchester for ‘Chapter 128: Technique’,
featuring some of the best wrestlers on the planet including PROGRESS
World Champions Cara Noir and Gisele Shaw, Ring Of Honor World
Champion Jonathan Gresham and many others. Tickets are available now
from www.progresstickets.com
