R-Truth has addressed the “bittersweet” retirement of 17-time WWE world champion John Cena next month.
With only three WWE dates remaining, John Cena’s 2025 farewell tour is almost at its end, with stars across the Raw, SmackDown and NXT rosters currently vying for the opportunity to wrestle WWE’s “Greatest of all Time” in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington D.C. on December 13.
One of those who has had plenty of screen time alongside Cena in his final year is R-Truth, with the pair facing off inside the ring on two occasions during Cena’s time as a heel in the first half of 2025.
Despite being at odds on screen during that time, they would later reconcile following Cena’s babyface turn in August, and speaking with the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling, Truth described Cena’s retirement as “bittersweet”.
Truth said:
“It’s bittersweet. Because every ride comes to a stop right? We all have to jump off a ride at some time whether we like it or not. We have to. And sometime it’s good to be able to jump off that ride and walk into the sunset and hop on an another one. Sometime it’s good to do that, a lot of the time it’s good to do that.
“It’s best he’s able to do it his own way. He’s able to go out on his own terms. You can’t get no better than that, to leave such an impression on people and in people’s lives and on the business and to be able to walk off into the sunset and ride another horse. We ain’t done seeing him, he’s just retiring from this walk of life now.
“So I think it’s awesome. My hat’s off to him, I won’t stop applauding him.”
