R-Truth Breaks Silence After John Cena Loss At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event WWE

WWE star R-Truth has broken his silence after losing to John Cena at the May 24 Saturday Night’s Main Event special.

Truth stepped into the ring with his childhood hero during the most recent WWE-NBC special to try to bring Cena back to the light side, during Cena’s retirement tour.

The closing moments of the match saw John Cena decide against hitting Truth with his WWE Championship belt, with Cena handing the gold back to the referee after what appeared to be a change of heart.

This was short-lived however, with Cena delivering a low blow to Truth while the referee was looking away, allowing him to hit an Attitude Adjustment for the victory.

While Cena did hit Truth with the belt after the match, Truth is still motivated by progress made in bringing Cena back to the light ahead of his retirement.

During a WWE digital exclusive, R-Truth reflected on everything that transpired.

Still determined to bring out the good guy in John Cena, an emotional Truth said:

“I saw something in his eyes. He had an opportunity to take advantage of me, he didn’t do it, so he ain’t all the way gone? That’s my childhood hero, that’s my brother.

“This is his last farewell tour and this is how he wants to end it? He can’t end it like that. Y’all saw it, I almost had him, he’s right there, before coming back. We gotta bring him back before he leaves, before he’s gone, before he’s done.

“I don’t think he really wants to ruin wrestling. This is more than a championship, this is a man’s career. This is professional wrestling’s legacy. I was that close, I was that close, and that’s the truth.”

John Cena interfered in the show’s main event, attacking Jey Uso during his World Heavyweight Championship match against Logan Paul.

Cody Rhodes then made his return to fight Cena and allow Jey to retain his gold. The American Nightmare ended the show by challenging Cena and Paul to a tag-team match at Money in the Bank.
