John Cena has reacted to R-Truth’s WWE departure announcement, giving a nod to his recent rival on social media.
R-Truth took to social media on June 1 to announce he had been released by WWE.
Both Fightful and PWInsider have confirmed that this announcement is legitimate, but that WWE will not be renewing R-Truth’s contract, as opposed to it being a ‘release’.
Truth’s last major WWE program saw him face his “childhood hero” and WWE Champion John Cena in non-title action at the May 24 Saturday Night’s Main Event special.
Cena has now taken to social media to give a nod to R-Truth, posting to Instagram, where he shares images without captions or explanations.
The photo which Cena shared – which you can view below – shows R-Truth in his “Ron Cena” entrance attire, in the ring at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Truth’s final match in WWE saw him lose to JC Mateo on the May 30 edition of SmackDown. Jimmy Uso ran down to make the save after this bout.
A number of other WWE stars have also taken to social media to react to R-Truth’s exit, including Big E, Rhea Ripley and Pat McAfee.
More details have emerged on the backstage reaction to Truth’s WWE departure, as well as interest in Truth from other promotions, which you can read more about right here.
We’ll keep you posted if any further updates emerge, and we continue to wish Truth all the best going forward.
