An update has emerged on R-Truth’s WWE departure, with details emerging on the decision to not renew his contract.
R-Truth took to social media to announce his WWE departure on June 1, with reports confirming that WWE will not be renewing R-Truth’s contract.
Dave Meltzer has shared a new update in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, noting that Truth’s departure was a financial decision.
Dave Meltzer wrote the following:
“Essentially in his case it was a financial decision by the company, in the sense his last contract was so high that for the level they were using him they felt it made no sense.”
A number of notable names have reacted to Truth’s departure announcement, including his former tag-team partners The Miz – who told Truth to keep smiling – and Pacman Jones, who called the situation “bulls**t.”
Fans attending WWE shows have also made their feelings known, with “We want Truth” chants breaking out at the June 2 Raw taping.
CM Punk addressed these chants for R-Truth, which you can read more about at this link.
