AEW Star Reveals What Randy Orton Told Him Had Changed In WWE WWE

An AEW star has revealed a conversation with Randy Orton about what had changed in the wrestling business and why it led to their support.

The Revival, comprised of Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder, is now known as AEW’s FTR, Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler, and the pair are widely respected for their throwback wrestling style blended with aspects of modern-day wrestling presentation.

It’s that throwback mindset that brought them to the attention of WWE’s Randy Orton, with Harwood recently revealing on FTR with Dax:

“We didn’t call a lot of things. We called a lot of it in the ring and we got to the back and he just, you know, [Randy] was astounded at how much we talked in the ring.”

“He said, ‘Do you guys do that all the time?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, that’s kind of – we don’t like to call a lot of things in the back.’

“And he said, ‘That’s how it used to be. When I was coming up with Hunter, and with Shawn, and with Flair,’ and he started naming all these people — ‘Adam/Edge. We felt it and we called it in the ring.’

“Then he said, ‘Somewhere, in the mix, it changed and a lot of guys started calling it in the back.'”

The Revival (now FTR) joined WWE in 2014, going on to become the first WWE tag team triple crown winners, having held the Raw, SmackDown and NXT tag team champions and various points across their time in the company.

They would leave WWE in April 2020, joining AEW in May of that year.

On the same episode of the FTR with Dax, Harwood also spoke about how Randy’s support for the pair led to a rift between The Viper and Triple H.
