The Randy Orton tattoo lawsuit trial in which his tattoo artist is attempting to sue WWE and 2K has been postponed yet again by the U.S. District Court Southern District of Illinois (East St. Louis).
Per Judge Staci M. Yandle in the January 3 ruling:
“Given the current surge of the omicron coronavirus pandemic in this district, the Court has determined that a jury cannot be safely impaneled and trial cannot proceed as currently scheduled. Accordingly, the January 31, 2022 trial setting is hereby VACATED. “
A new trial date will be announced on January 19 after a conference involving all parties.
The trial had been rearranged a number of times, previously being pushed back from June 2020 to February 2021, then to September 2021, then to January 2022.
In April 2018, Catherine Alexander – Orton’s tattoo artist – filed a lawsuit against WWE, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc, 2K Games Inc, 2K Sports Inc, Visual Concepts Entertainment, Yukes Co Ltd, and Yukes LA Inc.
In the lawsuit, she claims that those parties have infringed on her copyright by using the tattoo work she did on Randy Orton in video games without her permission.
