The Raw after Money in the Bank is in the books! Here’s the summary…
Ronda Rousey attacked Raw GM Kurt Angle with the MITB briefcase and then power bombed Alexa Bliss through a table to a hugely positive reaction in a heated angle after Bliss provoked an irate Ronda. Afterwards Angle suspended Rousey for 30 days and Ronda vowed to return to ruin the new Raw Women’s Champion Bliss.
Braun Strowman celebrated his men’s Money in the Bank win. He vowed to cash in as soon as Brock Lesnar shows his face. “The Beast is gonna GET THESE HANDS!” With Sami Zayn ‘out injured’, Kevin Owens emerged and tried to form a new friendship with Mr Monster in the Bank. Chris Jericho would surely warn against this. Braun too was clearly sceptical and tried to powerslam KO but Owens escaped.
Later, Kevin Owens and Constable Corbin beat Braun Strowman and Finn Balor when Corbin pinned Balor following the End of Days. Corbin wrestled in a white shirt and reminded me of Chief Morley and Corporate Kane, which is not a good thing.
Dolph Ziggler pinned Seth Rollins with a roll up holding the tights in a massive upset to become a six-time WWE Intercontinental Champion. Afterwards Drew McIntyre attacked The Architect before Ziggler and Drew laid out Rollins with the Zig Zag into the Claymore. Afterwards McIntyre and Ziggler cut a backstage promo vowing to take over and even subtly hinted at a programme with Rollins and Roman Reigns. Meanwhile Rollins said he would invoke his rematch clause against Ziggler next week.
Speak of the devil, Roman Reigns confronted Kurt Angle in the ring to demand a Universal Title match with Brock Lesnar…again. Then Bobby Lashley came out wanting a shot too. Kurt resolved this by announcing a multi-person match at Extreme Rules to decide who would face Lesnar next. Note he said PERSON. That’s either incredibly PC or is going somewhere.
Later Reigns and Lashley teamed reluctantly against The Revival. This ended when Lashley speared Dash Wilder and pinned him. Reigns looked miffed at Lashley using his finisher. Interesting direction to pit WWE‘s two most-maligned stars against each other and this was a decent start.
The Sasha Banks-Bayley storyline returns! They teamed against Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan. Morgan pinned Banks using the tights (a la Ziggler – yep, same finish). Afterwards Banks shoved Bayley. The Hugger shoved her back. So Sasha shoved her harder so Bayley fell over. Then they brawled backstage and Sasha told Bayley she was done being her friend. Will these two just please have a match and have it done with?
Bobby Roode pinned Curt Hawkins with the Glorious DDT. This was Hawkins’ 204th consecutive loss.
The Deleters of Worlds beat Heath Slater and Rhyno when Hardy pinned Slater after the Kiss of Deletion. Before the match The B Team appeared on the Tron and did a flawless impersonation of Hardy and Wyatt. Curtis Axel sounded just like Hardy. Bo Dallas dressed as his real-life brother was hilarious and to be honest, a little freaky,
Elias sang a fabulous song for Brock Lesnar, clearly throwing his hat in the ring for the multi-person match at Extreme Rules. “When times get tough, ask yourself, what would Elias do?” Everyone should live their lives by that mantra.
Jinder Mahal cut a promo on the rampway saying although Roman Reigns beat him last night he’d managed to find inner peace. Then he pinned Chad Gable after the Khallas.
In another filler match, Mojo Rawley pinned No Way Jose after a fireman’s carry into a front slam. Afterwards Mojo told Charly Caruso he now stays focussed instead of staying hyped. Whatever.
