Raw in Brief: June 25 2018

Here is the Monday Night Raw News in Brief…

Seth Rollins beat Dolph Ziggler by disqualification in an outstanding Intercontinental Title match when Drew McIntyre pulled the referee out to stop him counting three after a Rollins suplex-Falcon Arrow combination. McIntyre then attacked Rollins. Roman Reigns made the save, spearing Ziggler and nailing Drew with a Superman Punch.

The Riott Squad beat Sasha Banks, Bayley and Ember Moon when Ruby Riott small packaged and pinned Banks. Afterwards Bayley attacked Sasha to a hugely positive reaction. Bayley absolutely destroyed Sasha, hurling her repeatedly into the ring steps as the fans chanted “BAYLEY!” with more gusto than at any time during her run on the main roster. After the match, Kurt Angle told Bayley she had to go to counselling or be fired!

Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens beat Finn Balor and Constable Corbin by countout when unlikely partners Corbin and Balor began brawling outside the ring. Afterwards KO offered Braun a handshake. Strowman offered Owens a glare. Braun then chased Owens out of the arena. As  panicking Kevin tried to leave, he discovered Mr Monster in the Bank had flipped over and destroyed his car! Strowman walked off laughing as KO looked devastated.

Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley had a tense in-ring confrontation. As they argued over who was the better opponent for Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle said the multi-man match at Extreme Rules was off because Lesnar’s contractual negotiations had hit a snag. Lashley said maybe Brock would show up if he had someone “legit” to challenge him. “Maybe he’s tired of your face just like all these people are,” said Bobby. The fans popped for that line. As the two stared down, Kurt said he’d think about whether to give them a one-on-one match at Extreme Rules.

The Revival beat Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley! Dash Wilder pinned Reigns CLEAN after Lashley was knocked off the apron when Reigns sent Scott Dawson into him, apparently deliberately, then Roman speared Dawson but Wilder caught him with a roll up. There was more tension between Lashley and Reigns afterwards. During the match the commentators pointed out that Paul Heyman had tweeted saying unless somebody stepped up to prove they could carry the Raw main event, Brock Lesnar would be concentrating on “other Ultimate opportunities”.

Mickie James introduced the new Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, who cut loose on the suspended Ronda Rousey and her Extreme Rules opponent Nia Jax, This promo started well but the crowd soon started with the ‘WHAT?’ chant as Alexa went on and on. Then Natalya interrupted her and said she’d been given a match with Alexa tonight. Nia Jax then emerged to have Natalya’s back.  Natalya then defeated Bliss with the Sharpshooter after Nia tripped Alexa.

The B Team did their uncanny and hilarious Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt impersonation again. This led to Hardy vs Curtis Axel. Curtis got a fluke win when Hardy slipped trying a superplex and Axel landed on top of him. Afterwards Matt land Bray led the fans in a Woken Standing O for the wildly celebrating Axel.

No Way Jose wanted a rematch with Mojo Rawley after his loss last week. Mojo instead cut a promo on Jose’s conga friends, saying they didn’t belong. Mojo picked on one guy called Todd who was dressed as a cheeseburger. The fans chanted for Todd as Rawley bullied him. Mojo then refused Jose a rematch and sucker punched him.

The Authors of Pain were on Raw! They destroyed jobber brothers Rex and Rich Gibson with the Last Chapter. As they continued the assault afterwards, Titus Worldwide emerged to make the save.

A WWE 2K19 advert for Rey Mysterio aired. He said he was back….
