A WWE Raw star declared on Twitter that he’s making a generous pledge to members of the WWE family who currently can’t work due to the coronavirus.
The pandemic has meant that a certain number of the talent roster are stuck at home in quarantine, but with WWE being the global company that it is, the impact is far more widespread and also affects hundreds of background employees.
Rusev, who, as of the last word, was embroiled in a contract dispute with WWE, tweeted:
In Bulgaria we say “ It’s not a lot but it’s from the heart” I pledge 20,000$ to any of my WWE extended family that are sitting at home without income. WE can’t do it without y’all. Production, security, etc. LOVE YALL.
The situation has obviously had a massive impact on WrestleMania, not only with it having to be held in the Performance Center, but also in the actual matches themselves.
Carmella was originally set to be part of a six-way match for the SmackDown Women’s Title, but wasn’t mentioned when the bout was officially announced. Dana Brooke was confirmed to be part of it, but she’s been pulled and it’s now a five-way.
Rey Mysterio is also staying at home in quarantine, meaning a planned United States Championship match has been taken off the card.
Instead of defending the US Title against Mysterio, or in a four-way also including Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza, champion Andrade will instead team with Garza to challenge the Street Profits for the Raw Tag Team Championship.
