The ending to the Rey Mysterio vs. Samoa Joe match last night felt flat, with Mysterio picking up the win in a match that lasted just shy of two minutes. This marked Rey’s first reign as United States Champion, and it was reported that the bout was cut short due to Joe suffering a broken nose early on in the bout, and backstage officials became worried about the amount of blood leaving Joe’s face.
However, PWInsider is now reporting that Joe might not be the only one who walked away from the bout in some pain. It is believed that Rey Mysterio may have suffered a shoulder injury at the event. After the match, Mysterio was brutally attacked by Joe as Rey’s son Dominick helplessly watched on. It is not known at this point whether Rey was injured during the match itself, or in the post-match beatdown angle.
At this time, it is unknown if the reports are true, and if so, how serious Rey’s injury is and if he will require time away from the ring to recover. WrestleTalk will provide more information if and when it becomes available.
