There are a couple of lists that wrestlers would rather not end up on. One of them belonged to a certain Chris Jericho… and the other one belongs to WWE’s medical personnel. Unfortunately for Akam of AOP, he is currently on the latter.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer stated:
“Akam of The Authors Of Pain is hurt. I don’t know the nature [of it]. That’s why we haven’t seen him. I don’t know the nature of the injury. It’s a leg injury [and] he’s gonna be out for a couple of months from what I understand. I’m checking on that. But I did hear that, so that’s why we haven’t see him.”
Thanks to Fightful for the transcription
AOP, formerly known as the Authors of Pain, recently lost the Raw Tag Team Championships to Chad Gable and Bobby Roode on the December 10 edition of Raw, after a reign that was characterized by… piss. Literal, actual, genuine piss.
Akam and tag partner Rezar are also former NXT Tag Team Champions, and, along with manager Drake Maverick, were slightly miffed when they didn’t receive an automatic rematch for the titles after said clause was scrapped as part of WWE’s “new era”.
The Raw tag division is presented as, let’s be honest, very poor, and taking away the dominance of AOP only worsens that. It will be interesting to see how (if at all) WWE uses Rezar for the next couple of months, as we’ve never seen either AOP member as a singles wrestler during their WWE tenures.
We at WrestleTalk wish Akam a speedy recovery.
