Following speculation that the King of the Ring tournament will return, a Raw talent has pitched a qualifying match against a popular star.
Both Adam Pearce and King Corbin have teased the return of the royal tournament. Ivar of the Viking Raiders aims to play spoiler, revealing that he wants to eliminate a certain star from the conversation.
Ivar took to Twitter to note that he would want to prevent Xavier Woods from competing in the tournament. Stating that defeating Woods may be more important to him than becoming king, Ivar tweeted:
“I think I want nothing more than to defeat @AustinCreedWins in a qualifying match for the king of the ring tournament, there for he never makes it to the official tournament. Being his spoiler may be more important to me than winning the whole thing….”
Woods has been very vocal about wanting King of the Ring to come back, and even yesterday during the teases of it returning, he tweeted this to Adam Pearce:
Since I couldn’t get my logical match against reckoning it would be greeeaaaatttttt if we could get this one right. GIVE ME A #KOTR TOURNAMENT. please and thank you sir.
Earlier this month, The Viking Raiders won a tag team battle royal to determine the next challengers for the Raw Tag Team Championship. Wood’s partner, Kofi Kingston, also recently faced Drew McIntyre in a WWE Championship #1 contender’s match.
McIntyre will challenge Bobby Lashley for the title inside Hell in a Cell this weekend. In an interview, Lashley revealed that he hasn’t closed the door on his MMA career.
