The real reason Charlotte Flair won the NXT Women’s Championship appears to have been revealed, and it seemingly involves travel issues.
Flair defeated Rhea Ripley for the title at WrestleMania, and Ripley has now returned home to Australia as her work visa has expired, reports PWInsider.
The reason this has affected the title change is likely because of everything that’s going on with quarantining and the pandemic making travel extremely difficult, it’s very unlikely Ripley would be able to renew her visa and make it back in time for next week’s TV tapings, which will cover multiple weeks’ worth of episodes.
While this might not be 100% of the reason Flair won, it almost certainly must have been a factor.
The Aussie will obviously be off TV for the foreseeable future while the renewal process is taking place.
On tomorrow’s episode of NXT, a six-woman ladder match will take place between Tegan Nox, Chelsea Green, Mia Yim, Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai and Io Shirai to determine Flair’s first challenger.
