Real Reason For Colt Cabana AEW Return

The real reason for Colt Cabana’s return to AEW has seemingly been revealed.

Colt Cabana made his AEW return during Dynamite on November 2 to face Chris Jericho as Jericho continues his crusade to defeat former ROH title holders.

Cabana’s return was considered to be an indication that CM Punk was out of the AEW for good due to their checkered history.

Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason behind Cabana’s AEW return has been revealed.

Meltzer explained:

“Whatever it was, it was Tony Khan’s idea. We were told that this was more for the locker room than anything else, that having Cabana on the show and given a positive spotlight after months of being ostracized for reasons that had nothing to do with him was a dressing room morale booster since he had many friends there.”

So it seems that Colt Cabana’s return was a service to the locker room to boost morale after the turbulent events following All Out.

This suggests that Cabana is viewed in a positive light among the AEW roster.

Cabana remains on the ROH roster. Previously it was reported that his appearance on Dynamite was a “one-off” and not the beginning of a new AEW run.

Colt Cabana’s AEW contract expired a few months ago. Rather than being let go form the company altogether, Tony Khan signed Cabana to Ring of Honor instead.
