Real Reason For WrestleMania Ticket Sale Delay?

More information has been revealed surrounding the WrestleMania ticket sales, including a possible reason for the delay.

Originally intended for sale on March 16, fans are finally able to pick up tickets for WrestleMania 37 today and tomorrow. A new report has discussed the details of these tickets, noting that most of the seats are expected to be sold during today’s pre-sale.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, a lot had to be rearranged for this week’s ticket release because seating plans had to be changed. This is possibly why the date that tickets went on sale was delayed.

Bryan Alvarez speculated that the jump from the rumored 45,000 seats to the reported 25,000 capacity was a tactic to make sure all tickets are sold.

Here is the full quote:

Alvarez: “It was always going to be 25,000. They wanted 45,000, they had the discussion about 45,000, but it was gonna be 25,000 until they had those discussions to raise it. So at the end of the day, it’s still the same number that they were gonna put on when they were first talking about this months ago.”

Meltzer: “They had to rearrange the seating and things like that. It was different from what the plans were, so they had to redo everything. So that’s what happened. So they’re putting tickets on sale on Thursday for a pre-sale that you have to sign-up, there’s an address to sign-up. Whatever it is, they’ll send you then a thing that you can sign-up for the pre-sale, because I think most of them are going on pre-sale. I think they should be able to get 25,000 for each night just with the locals and the pent-up people who are going to come in.”

Alvarez (later in the show): “Maybe what happened is they were thinking, ‘Well what if we put on 45,000 and we don’t sell them. What if we put on 25,000, and then if we sell them we’ll bump it up’. Because that’s the story that I heard a week ago.”

It was reported yesterday that the Raymond James Stadium is expected to be at 36% capacity on both nights following these ticket sales.

WrestleMania 37 will feature a WWE Championship match between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre. McIntyre has spoken about headlining The Show of Shows, stating that he wants to close the second night of WrestleMania, opposed to the first.
