On last night’s episode of Raw, the undefeated NXT Champion Karrion Kross made his main roster debut, and immediately lost in a couple of minutes to Jeff Hardy.
Unsurprisingly, fans have slammed this piece of baffling booking, with many asking why on earth you would have your NXT Champion lose their first match to a midcard guy in such an uninspiring way.
According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select’s Raw review, he received a text from an NXT source which said Kross’ lost “felt like a message being sent” to NXT directly from Vince McMahon.
Sapp added that he thinks Vince “does not give a damn about NXT”, so this kind of booking may come as no surprise to a lot of people within WWE. We’d like to make it clear that this is just what Sapp has heard from a source.
It was also noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Charlotte’s run with the NXT Women’s Championship appears to have been removed from her title reigns tally, as she was called an 11-time champion, rather than a 12-time champion which would include the NXT title.
It isn’t clear what WWE has in store for Kross on the main roster, but let’s all hope it’s more than what we saw this week.
