Last night on Smackdown Live, Elias progressed into the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament by somewhat surprisingly defeating Ali.
However, the man that Elias defeated to move into the quarter-final, Kevin Owens, was noticeably absent from last night’s TV taping.
Many people were surprised that the very over former Universal Champion was left off the show, especially considering that Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon/Elias storyline is one of the biggest on Smackdown at the moment.
KO has taken to Twitter to reveal exactly why he missed the show, and you really have to respect his reasons.
I figured if I didn’t show up, maybe Shane wouldn’t either and I’d be doing everyone a favor. It worked! 👍
Actually, I didn’t want to fly out early and leave my family in a potential hurricane. I tried to get to Norfolk today once I knew they‘d be safe but no luck.
It’s on me. https://t.co/SzceUaAUkj

After joking saying that he didn’t turn up to Smackdown so fans wouldn’t have to see Shane McMahon either, Kevin Owens revealed that he felt uncomfortable leaving his family in Florida with Hurricane Dorian potentially around the corner.
It is nice to see KO portraying his WWE gimmick of a family man by missing TV to make sure his wife and children are safe with Hurricane Dorian potentially looming.
