Real Reason Kylie Rae Wasn’t At IMPACT Bound For Glory Revealed

Last night at IMPACT Wrestling’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view event, Deonna Purrazzo was set to defend her Knockout’s Championship against former AEW star Kylie Rae, in a highly-anticipated match-up.

Right before the match, it was revealed that Kylie Rae wasn’t actually in the building for the show. She was replaced by Su Yung (aka Susie), who rather surprisingly defeated Purrazzo to win the title.

IMPACT didn’t provide a reason as to why Rae wasn’t on the show and seemed to suggest that she just didn’t turn up. However, we now know the real reason why Deonna defended her title against Susie instead of Kylie).

Bryan Alvarez is now reporting that Kylie Rae was forced to miss the show through injury, explaining why Susie replaced her in the title match. Thankfully, the report notes that the injury is not believed to be serious:

While explained on the pay-per-view as a no show, Bryan Alvarez is reporting she was off the show due to an injury that isn’t considered to be serious. No other details are available. Rae has been active on the indies between Impact taping dates, wrestling as recently as two weeks ago

Interestingly, Fightful Select has noted that people within IMPACT were under the impression that Kylie Rae would still be challenging for the title on the show. They were unaware of any injury that she has supposedly suffered:

Those we spoke to in the company simply told us that they thought the match was still going to happen as of Friday, and earlier this week. We’ve not heard any update on Kylie Rae from talent, as they claim to not have heard an update on her situation with IMPACT.

To follow up: we’ve heard nothing of an injury and Impact talent hasn’t been given that reason for her absence. We’ve subsequently been told that this situation was also a surprise to the company.

IMPACT has come under fire for promoting the match heavily beforehand if they knew that there was no way they would be able to deliver on it due to Kylie Rae’s injury. So far, the promotion has not commented on the situation.
