The opening to tonight’s WWE Raw saw a Falls Count Anywhere match between Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley thrown out as both men flew through the LED wall on the stage and, well, it blew up.
It was genuinely the best first half hour of Raw that I can remember, and the potential reason for the angle has been revealed by the reliable WrestleVotes on Twitter.
WrestleVotes revealed that WWE has had plans in place to debut a new stage set, and that this segment and the destruction of part of the current stage may have been done to speed up the replacement process and present a reason to introduce the new stage.
Well, WWE was / is in the process of having a new stage designed and built. I wonder if this speeds up its debut.

Whatever the reason may be, the whole feel of the angle and the way it was presented was great and it felt real.
Touches like Corey Graves exclaiming an uncensored “holy s***” on the impact, and then going to help along with medical personnel and WWE officials added to the wonderful, wonderful chaos.
