The real reason that Vince McMahon allowed Chris Jericho to appear on Broken Skull Sessions whilst signed to AEW has been discussed.
Last week, WWE made the huge announcement that AEW star Chris Jericho is set to appear on Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions. It has recently been explained why Vince McMahon is allowing a current AEW competitor to be prominently featured on a WWE show.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was noted that Jericho’s appearance is best for business. With WWE’s current projects, such as the transition from WWE Network to Peacock, the anticipated interview was timed perfectly.
With a source claiming that 6 months either way, and we wouldn’t be in this position, it seems as if wrestling fans should count themselves lucky.
Here is the full quote:
“One person close to the situation said McMahon’s decision was all about timing. “Quite simply…..It’s a great business move for him. Wrestling as you know is all about timing. And with the Peacock debut, this is timed perfectly. Six months either way and this probably doesn’t happen.”
Jericho’s Broken Skull Sessions episode will premiere on Sunday, during WrestleMania 37 weekend. A clip of Jericho’s one-off WWE appearance saw The Inner Circle member namedrop AEW star Sammy Guevara.
April 11 is also the date of the second night of WrestleMania. Big E and Apollo Crews will do battle in a Nigerian Drum Fight, a match that we now know the rules of.
