The revelation that Vince McMahon, the supreme overlord of all things WWE, was not present at Extreme Rules caused the rumor mill to go into overdrive. The plot thickened when it was revealed that he was not at Raw or SmackDown either.
Was McMahon’s absence down to failing health? Was he missing because he was spending time working on the XFL? Had he secretly handed over full control to Triple H and co?
Perhaps it was down to the backlash McMahon expected from this locker room for bringing Hulk Hogan back into the fold and he was removing himself from the outrage.
No. It was none of these.
Workaholic Vince was simply taking his much-needed annual vacation, something he has done annually in July for several years.
Perhaps his timing could have been better, but as has been noted by those that have worked for the company, the machine goes on regardless of Vince’s presence.
Sometimes, the simplest explanations are the right ones.
