The real reason a previously scheduled match at WWE Night of Champions 2025 was canceled has now been revealed.
On Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, General Manager Adam Pearce announced that Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio was injured and wouldn’t be able to defend his title against AJ Styles at Night of Champions on June 28.
While this announcement led to speculation online that Styles or Mysterio opted out of travelling to Saudi Arabia for this Saturday’s event, a new update from PWInsider Elite has revealed that the injury to Mysterio is in fact legitimate.
The report notes that Mysterio is dealing with a “rib cage issue”, but isn’t expected to be out of action for any lengthy period of time.
While its unclear when Mysterio picked up the injury, he last competed in WWE on the June 9 episode of Raw, taking part in a King of the Ring first round four-way against Sami Zayn, Penta and Bron Breakker.
Following Mysterio vs. Styles’ cancellation, the company announced two new matches for Night of Champions – that being Raquel Rodriguez vs. Rhea Ripley and Karrion Kross vs. Sami Zayn.
With Mysterio and Liv Morgan going down with injury in recent weeks, a new report has revealed that another WWE Raw star is set to undergo surgery next week – click here for full details.
