Last week WWE fired new Raw writer Kenice Mobley. This came after she appeared on a podcast and revealed she had no WWE knowledge, even getting Bobby Lashley’s name wrong.
Now, Fightful Select (subscription required) has reported additional details about why she was let go. The report says the fan backlash against her was not a factor in her release at all.
Rather, WWE actively discourages writers from speaking publicly about the job. The report also notes that several wrestlers and staff felt disrespected by the nature of how she spoke about the wrestling business.
A number of sources also told Fightful that it is not uncommon for writers to be hired with no WWE knowledge. However, there is usually more of an effort to learn more quickly.
It is also worth mentioning that Fightful stated none of the wrestlers they had spoken to had worked with Kenice Mobley directly.
Mobley was fired on June 25 along with a number of wrestlers on the NXT and 205Live rosters. You can find the full list of those released here.
