The real reason a WWE star was recently forced into a championship loss has been revealed following the title change.
Last night at WWE NXT Roadblock, the main event saw Stephanie Vaquer become a double champion as she beat NXT Women’s Champion Giulia in a title vs title match to both retain the Women’s North American Championship and win the aforementioned NXT Women’s Championship.
When the match was announced a couple of weeks ago, it caught many fans off guard for a few different reasons.
It seemed odd that the match would be happening so soon and with only a couple of weeks’ worth of build, and that it would be happening at a TV special instead of a PLE.
Now the reason it happened has become clear as there are a couple of issues with Giulia that required her to spend some time off, hence the need for her to drop the championship.
On Wrestling Observer Live today, Bryan Alvarez reported:
“So Giulia – there are two things going on. There is some ‘minor’, I was told, visa issue.
“And there’s also an injury, which is listed internally as ‘undisclosed’.”
Giulia is said to need time off for both issues, so the decision was made to have her drop the title last night.
We’ll keep you posted with any more details on the injury as they emerge, and we wish Giulia all the best for her recovery.
