Real Reason CM Punk Joined Team OG Bloodline For WWE Survivor Series WarGames Revealed WWE

The real reason CM Punk joined Team OG Bloodline for WWE Survivor Series WarGames has been revealed, courtesy of a new report.

At the conclusion of last night’s SmackDown in Salt Lake City, UT it was finally revealed who the fifth member of Team OG Bloodline was, following weeks of fruitless recruitment efforts from The Usos and Sami Zayn.

The name revealed was not someone even on their radar, as a returning Wiseman Paul Heyman introduced CM Punk as the final piece of the OG Bloodline puzzle for WarGames.

Punk rushed to the ring to invoke a brawl between WWE’s OG Bloodline and New Bloodline, leading to “this is awesome” chants from the crowd inside the Delta Center.

Reigns and Punk would then share a stare down inside the ring as the show went off the air, their first TV meeting since Punk returned to WWE a year ago at Survivor Series 2023.

Punk’s inclusion in WarGames is one that caught many fans by surprise, with it seeming like the final spot was being set up for Seth Rollins to take, despite his resistances in recent weeks of TV.

According to a new report from WRKD Wrestling, Punk’s inclusion in WarGames is something motivated by Rollins’ refusal to align with Roman Reigns, and will play into a WrestleMania program between the Best in the World and The Visionary.

WRKD Wrestling posted the following to Twitter:

CM Punk joining Team OG Bloodline will be used as fuel in the Rollins/Punk feud in the future with Punk citing that he stepped up to help when Rollins didn’t.

Still heading toward that Mania match. #Smackdown

As fans will remember, Punk vs. Rollins was reportedly planned to be a marquee match of WrestleMania 40, before Punk suffered a triceps tear during the 2024 Royal Rumble.

The feud was picked up once again at SummerSlam, when Rollins was added as a special guest referee for Punk’s first match with McIntyre.

Rollins would once again tease a future showdown with Punk when he interrupted the Second City Saint’s last TV promo on the October 7 edition of WWE Raw.

We will post further updates on WWE’s plans for CM Punk and Rollins as/when they become available.
