Daniel Bryan has put over Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro in recent weeks on SmackDown, and the reason he has lost the majority of his singles matches since returning to TV in October has been revealed.
Ringside News, who have had a good record of backstage scoops in recent months, are reporting that the losing streak is Daniel Bryan’s call, as he wants to put over newer talent at this stage of his career:
Ringside News has learned that Daniel Bryan’s losing streak is his call. He wants to put people over, and he is doing this to elevate those he works with. Bryan is a part of the SmackDown writing team, and he is heavily involved.
On this week’s show, Daniel Bryan was defeated in a great singles match by Cesaro, which WWE Hall of Famer and former WWE Champion Kurt Angle has compared to his classics with Chris Benoit.
While he may be on a losing streak right now, it has been heavily speculated that Daniel Bryan is going to win the Royal Rumble match later this month and challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania.
