The Raw Women’s Championship being contested in a triple-threat was a decision partly based on guarding against injuries, reports Dave Meltzer.
If Becky Lynch defeats Charlotte Flair at this weekend’s Fastlane PPV, she will be inserted into the Raw women’s title match at WrestleMania alongside Charlotte and Champion Ronda Rousey.
Since winning the women’s Royal Rumble, Becky has been selling a kayfabe leg injury, but it was apparently the threat of real injuries that caused WWE to decide on a triple threat in the first place.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer highlighted that WWE is in a bit of an injury rut of late, and that superstars seem to be picking up injuries with increased frequency. Whether this is due to their packed schedule or something else, it isn’t clear.
It is thought that WWE made it a three-way so that if one of the three women got injured, they could simply do it as a singles match.
Good. That’s the Ronda I want to beat at Wrestlemania.
