It was announced last week that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff had been made Executive Directors of WWE Raw and SmackDown Live respectively. While Heyman wasn’t a surprise, many were shocked to see that former WCW President Eric Bischoff was chosen over Triple H.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the reason for this is in part due to Vince not wanting Trips to take the blame if ratings don’t improve in the future, as he is far too valuable to have his name muddied by failing in a new role.
Triple H is already Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative for WWE and also founded and produces NXT, so he’s probably got enough on his plate as it is.
Many assume that once Vince retires or passes away, the company will pass onto Triple H, so to not give him more influence on weekly TV will have come as a surprise to many.
