Road Dogg was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of D-Generation X on Saturday April 5, the day before WrestleMania 35. However, it was revealed just five days later that Road Dogg had stepped down from his position as head writer of Smackdown.
Thanks to Rajah.com, we now have more details about why exactly Road Dogg decided to resign from his role. Per Jeff Whalen, Road Dogg was heavily involved with Smackdown writing when on the road, and when he was not, he would still be working at home on Skype with Vince McMahon. They are also reporting that he had to be live in meetings with other WWE officials.
They also say that Road Dogg quit due to immense frustration, which is said to have been caused by his work being constantly “torn apart” by Vince McMahon. It is believed that these changes would occur just hours before Smackdown was set to air. It has even been said that McMahon would “dress down” the Hall of Famer because of “product continuity issues”. This might explain why WWE is advertising a position for a ‘continuity supervisor’ on their webiste.
In spite of this, it is said that the decision for Road Dogg to step down was a mutual one, and he is being lined up for other roles within WWE.
