Reason Why The Hair Vs. Hair Stipulation Was Dropped From SummerSlam

One of the most interesting stipulations in the build to SummerSlam was the hair vs. hair stip put on the Sonya Deville vs. Mandy Rose match. One of the two women was set to hair their head shaved if they lost but plans changed. Instead, the match was changed to a loser leaves WWE match. Now we know why.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Deville’s lawyer objected to the original stipulation. The reason being it would be a bad idea to shave your head for court and thus the match was changed. Here is the quote, courtesy of Wrestling News:

“So the reason why they switched the stipulation from the Hair vs. Hair to the Loser Leaves Town was because her lawyer basically said that with this thing going on, it’s probably not a good idea to cut your hair and get your head shaved for court…so they did an impromptu Loser Leaves Town. Maybe because of the case she’s gonna take some time off. I know there’s other projects she was looking at doing. Obviously she’s gonna be back at some point.”

Last week the news broke that Sonya Deville was the victim of a home invasion. The man accused of breaking into her home was arrested at the scene and the Deville appeared in court last week.

Deville ultimately lost the match at SummerSlam, meaning she will be absent from WWE for the time being.
