Reason Why Vince McMahon Chose USA Network Over FS1 For NXT Revealed

It has been reported that tomorrow on Raw, WWE will be making a “major announcement”. Many people assume that this will be the time where either Vince McMahon or Triple H reveals what the future holds for NXT.

Over the last few days, reports have emerged suggesting that NXT will end up on the USA Network rather than FS1. The show will run for two hours every week, and will be used to go head-to-head with AEW on TNT.

With regards to why Vince McMahon and other WWE higher-ups chose the USA Network over FS1, Dave Meltzer has claimed on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince made the call because he felt as if he had a “better shot at not losing”:

“I was told why he wanted to go to USA — it’s not a money thing. It’s because he has a better shot at not losing. He doesn’t wanna lose that battle, but the feeling is that like it’s better because wrestling fans are used to the USA Network, they’re not used to FS1 — UFC fans are used to FS1, but it’s not a station that they’re familiar with and this and that and in theory you would think that should only matter for two or three weeks, it actually does mean a significant amount.”

NXT is also familiar to the USA Network. As part of ‘WWE Week’ in December 2017, the 12/13/17 episode of NXT was broadcast on the network. According to PW Insider, the show brought in nearly 850,000 viewers overnight.

This would certainly make sense, with wrestling fans already accustomed to watching WWE TV on the USA Network each week for Raw and Smackdown.
