Reason Why WWE Never Booked Shaquille O’Neil Vs. Big Show

It was heavily insinuated last night that we are going to see Shaquille O’Neil wrestle Cody Rhodes at some stage in AEW, but if this match does come to fruition, it won’t be the NBA legend’s first in a wrestling ring.

For those that don’t remember, Shaquille O’Neil was actually part of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royale at WrestleMania 32. He had a stand-off with Big Show, and this was believed to be leading to a singles match between the two.

Both Shaq and Big Show have spoken publicly about wanting to wrestle each other, and Dave Meltzer has noted the reasons why both parties feel the match wasn’t booked on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer is reporting that, in Shaq’s mind, WWE wasn’t willing to pay him the money that they once offered him. However, according to Meltzer, WWE felt as if Shaq wasn’t willing to train and was out of shape.

At this time, the plans that AEW has for an eventual match between Shaquille O’Neil and Cody Rhodes are not yet known. Make sure you stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for any potential interesting updates.
