Reason WWE Held Off Jacob Fatu Debut Revealed WWE

The reason why WWE held off on debuting Jacob Fatu after signing him in April has seemingly been revealed.

Jacob Fatu made his long awaited debut for WWE at the conclusion of last night’s episode of SmackDown, where he laid waste to Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens to close the show.

Jacob signed with WWE back in April, with his arrival coming just over two months after he signed with the company, and the reason for the delay on his debut has seemingly been revealed.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), it had been noted that Jacob Fatu had never wrestled outside of the United States, with MLW sources previously noting that it was because of his criminal record when he was younger, which prevented him from accepting bookings outside the United States.

It is not known if that will continue to be the case moving forward, but Fightful was told that it was likely hurdle on his debut given the number of international premium live events and television tapings WWE have held in the Spring and Summer.

His criminal past had previously been a primary reason why he had not been hired by the company, though the newer regime was said to have been ‘long interested’ in him.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful was told that Fatu made immediate good impressions in the company, and had a very respectful approach to everyone behind the scenes.
