Real Reason WWE Paired Paul Heyman With Roman Reigns WWE

The real reason why WWE paired Paul Heyman with Roman Reigns has now been revealed.

Following Roman Reigns’ WWE return at SummerSlam 2020, it was revealed that Paul Heyman was representing Reigns. Heyman hs acted as the Tribal Chief’s Special Counsel since then, with the duo briefly going their separate ways during Reigns’ feud with Brock Lesnar, before reuniting at Royal Rumble in January.

Lesnar was notably Heyman’s previous on-screen client, but the former advocate ultimately proved himself loyal to Reigns.

Speaking on Logan Paul’s ImPaulsive podcast, Reigns revealed that Heyman started to work with him on-screen because Lesnar hadn’t signed a new deal with WWE at that point.

Commenting on his relationship with Heyman, Reigns said:

“Brock (Lesnar) was in between contracts so Paul (Heyman) was kind of wide open, and it just fit, you know? He had that open creatively. He was still just working behind the scenes from a creative standpoint and then once it opened up

“I mean… when you’re working with someone like Brock for as long as he did with the success that they had, you need to have something that’s legitimate come through to make that move and I think I was the only one that he wanted to work with, otherwise, I think he would just stay kind of plugged in and be helping from an overall directive standpoint.

“Once he knew, oh, I’m gonna be with Joe (Roman Reigns), it’s all good. I’m going to be with Roman, it’s all good, then we knew it was on.”

Roman Reigns is currently the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, after unifying the WWE and Universal titles at WrestleMania 38 in April. WWE is reportedly dealing with a ‘complex’ situation when booking Reigns and his World Title defences, which you can read more about right here.
